ABSTRACT

Purpose: Age?related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in older individuals. More studies focused on screening the genes, which may be correlated with the development of AMD. With advances in various technologies like multiple microarray datasets, researchers could identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) more accurately. Exploring abnormal gene expression in disease status can help to understand pathophysiological changes in complex diseases. This study aims to identify the key genes and upstream regulators in AMD and reveal factors, especially genetic association, and the prognosis of the development of this disease. Methods: Data from expression profile GSE125564 and profile GSE29801 were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. We analyzed DEGs using R software (version 3.6.3). Functional enrichment and PPI network analysis were performed using the R package and online database STRING (version 11.0). Results: We compared AMD with normal and found 68 up?regulated genes (URGs) and 25 down?regulated genes (DRGs). We also compared wet AMD with dry AMD and found 41 DRGs in dry AMD. Further work including PPI network analysis, GO classification, and KEGG analysis was done to find connections with AMD. The URGs were mainly enriched in the biological process such as DNA replication, nucleoplasm, extracellular exosome, and cadherin binding. Besides, DRGs were mainly enriched in these functions such as an integral component of membrane and formation of the blood?aqueous barrier (BAB). Conclusion: This study implied that core genes might involve in the process of AMD. Our findings may contribute to revealing the pathogenesis, developing new biomarkers, and raising strategies of treatment for AMD

ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare the differences between Chinese and Korean residential elderly depression status, life satisfaction and relatedfactors in Xiamen China and Daejeon Korea. Methods:A survey was conducted on 201 elder people (≥60 years old) in Xiamen,China and 206 elder ones in Daejeon,Korea. The Geriatric Depression Scale,Life Satisfaction Index-A Scale and self-designed demographic questions were used.Data were analyzed with t-test and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Results:The LSI-A scores were higher in Korean elderly than in Chinese elderly (P <0.05).In Chinese elderly, social activities (β =0.37),living status (β =-0.30) and education level (β =0.16) were associated with GDS scores, and social activity (β =-0.36) and living status (β=0.17) were associated with LSI-A scores. In Korea elderly, health status (β =-0.33),social activity (β =0.24)and living status (β =-0.13) were associated with GDS scores, and health status (β =0.32),social activity (β =-0.15) and living status (β =0.16) were associated with LSI-A scores. Conclusion:It indicates that Korea elderly have better life satisfaction than Chinese elderly.

ABSTRACT

Cervical spondylosis belongs to the category of "arthralgia syndrome" in traditional Chinese medicine. From the number and distribution range of disease, the incidence of cervical spondylosis is yearly increasing and shows a trend of younger age.Cervical spondylosis has become one of the common diseases that seriously affect people's health. This article reviews the relevant literature of TCM nursing interventions in the rehabilitation of cervical spondylosis and explores the influence of TCM nursing interventions on patients with cervical spondylosis including tuina, cupping, moxibustion, scrapping,TCM fumigation, auricular therapy and so on,in order to provide a reference for the future practice and research of TCM nursing interventions for patients with cervical spondylosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the acculturative stress and the mental health status of international medical students in China and the influence of cross cultural adaptation to mental health. Methods A investigate to international medical students in Fujian Province with Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90), Acculturative Stress Scale for International Students (ASSIS) and self-designed general information questionnaire, using multivariate linear regression to identity influencing factors of mental health. Results The average score of the acculturative stress was 2.63 ± 0.81. The univariate analysis demonstrated that relative factors for the acculturative stress was the time for staying in China ( P<0.01). The average score of the mental health was 2.10±0.83, obviously higher than that of Chinese models (P<0.01). The univariate analysis demonstrated that relative factors for the mental health included gender (P=0.020), age (P=0.002), time for staying in China (P=0.000) and degree (P=0.002). Multivariate analysis also further showed that gender (P=0.000), age (P=0.000) , the time for staying in China (P=0.000), perceived discrimination (P=0.002), fear (P=0.000), homesickness (P=0.000), culture shock (P=0.000), hostility (P=0.000) and the stress (P=0.000) had a significantly influence on mental health. Conclusions International medical students face a greater cross-cultural adaptation of the pressure, which had a significant impact on their mental health. International Student Management Office shall provide more help and psychological support for the international medical students, and establish the mechanism of management of students, establish feasible model of psychological health education.

ABSTRACT

Objective The purpose of this study was to identify the effect factors on family adaptation of hospitalized children. Methods A survey was conducted in 330 hospitalized children's parents using questionnaires such as FSI,FVI,FHI,FWBI.Results Multiple factor analysis showed that the strongest resilience factor was family hardiness, the second one was general family value on family adaptation of hospitalized children. Conclusions Family hardiness and family value have the adjusting role on family adaptation of hospitalized children. Therefore, the significance of this study can be used to develop family nursing intervention program based on family resilience to strengthen family adaptation of hospitalized children.

ABSTRACT

This study examined the effect of insulin on the expression of very low density lipoprotein receptor (VLDLR) subtypes of SGC7901 cells and discussed its biological implication. In vitro, moderately or poorly-differentiated human gastric adenocarcinoma cell line SGC7901 was incubated with insulin for different lengths of time, and then the expression of protein and RNA level in VLDLR subtypes were detected by Western blotting and real-time PCR, respectively. The results showed that, at certain time interval, insulin could down-regulate expression of type Ⅰ VLDLR and up-regulate the expression of type Ⅱ VLDLR in SGC7901 cells, at both protein and RNA level. We are led to conclude that insulin serves as a regulator in maintaining the balance between glucose and lipid metabolism in vivo, possibly through its effect on the differential expression of VLDLR subtypes.

ABSTRACT

Very low density lipoprotein receptor (VLDLR) is thought to participate in the patho-genesis of atherosclerosis induced by VLDL and β-VLDL. The present study was undertaken to elu-cidate the effects of VLDL and β-VLDL on VLDLR expression and its signaling pathway. RAW264.7 cells were incubated with VLDL and β-VLDL. The expression of VLDLR mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. The transcriptional activity of VLDLR gene was detected in recombinant plasmid pGL4.2VR-luciferase transfected RAW264.7. Western blot assay was used to detect the changes of phosphorylated ERK1/2 protein. Inhibitors or activators were used to observe the signal pathway in-volving VLDLR expression regulation. The results showed that VLDL and β-VLDL stimulated ERKI/2 activity in a PKC-dependent manner. VLDL or β-VLDL-induced VLDLR expression on macrophages was extremely abolished by inhibitors ERKI/2 or PKC. Our findings revealed that VLDL or β-VLDL-induced VLDLR expression via PKC/ERK cascades and the effect was linked to the transcriptional activation of VLDLR gene promoter.
